Boy awarded accident compensation

A young boy has been awarded a multi million pound payout for the injuries he suffered after a road traffic accident.

The boy, who was seven at the time, was running across the road outside his home to show friends the result of his recent fishing trip; when he was hit by a vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was travelling at 30mph which was the legal speed limit on the road. However, the lawyers representing the boy argued that the accident happened because the driver had not taken the narrow road and the parked cars into account and he was therefore negligent in his driving.

The lawyers argued that the driver of the vehicle knew the area well and should therefore have been aware of the dangers of travelling at that speed. Although he was driving at the speed limit, he should have known that it was dangerous to, because of the road conditions.

As a result of this, the boy has been awarded £3.5 million in a settlement and that is designed to help him through school. The boy does not have use of his left arm or leg but is able to ride a specially adapted tricycle to get around.
