A widow has launched a compensation claim after her husband was killed in a high speed car accident in which he played a completely innocent part.
The accident involved seven cars after two drivers decided to race each other at 80mph down an A road. Three other people were injured in the pile up.
The two drivers kept over taking one another and were excessively speeding for five miles driving their cars as close to each other as possible.
One of the two dangerous drivers was also killed in the car accident while the other has been sentenced to jail for six and a half years for causing death by dangerous driving. He was also banned from driving for seven years. He appealed against the driving ban and it was reduced to five years.
The widow of one of the innocent victims has issued a writ against the wife of the dangerous driver who died. She has launched a compensation claim for more than £300,000.
Her husband as well as the driver of one of the racing cars both died instantly at the scene.
